We all know how annoying it is too spill red wine down our favourite top, or the kids draw smiley faces on there jeans with felt tip.
As a general rule the quicker you treat the stain the more chance of getting rid of it so check our list below which lists a few helpful hints to keep your clothes in wearable condition for longer! Treat a small area of the stained garment first, as tester areas to ensure it won’t make it worst! And always remember to read the care label before you do anything.
STAIN
HOW BEST TO TREAT
BABY FORMULA
1. Pretreat or soak stains using a product containing enzymes.
2. Soak for at least 30 minutes or several hours for aged stains
3. Launder.
BALL POINT INK
Hold stain against towel, spray closely from behind with aerosol hair spray. Ink should transfer to towel
BLEACH
1. To minimise the effect of split bleach, wash the article immediately in lots of cold water.
2. For chlorine-based bleach, mix one-tablespoon vinegar with 600ml of cold water and soak the article.
CHOCOLATE
Pre-wash with product containing enzymes in warm water or treat with pre-wash stain remover. Launder.
COSMETICS
Pre-wash with stain remover, liquid laundry detergent or paste of granular detergent and water or rub with bar of soap. Launder.
FRUIT JUICE
Rinse with cool water
NAIL VARNISH
You need to act straight away! Scrape off excess, and then blot nail varnish remover using kitchen roll on affected area. Then launder in normal way.
TOBACCO
1. Dampen stain and rub with bar soap and then rinse.
2. Pretreat or soak in a product containing enzymes.
3. Launder.
RED WINE
Cover with salt if stain is fresh, then rinse with cool water. If stain has dried, try club soda.
